Bite, page 51
“You’re very welcome Vincent,” Charlie responds.
“I don’t know how much longer I would have lasted so I am forever grateful that you all came by.” He then looks at me and smiles while saying, “And what a pleasant surprise you turned out to be.”
If I was able to I would have blushed but instead I mumble a nervous, “Thanks.”
He rises up from the couch and reaches out his hands for me. I take his and he pulls me up as well. After giving me a once over, he says, “It definitely suits you.”
Charlie says, “She has shown extraordinary restraint since she’s changed. Her level of control is in fact off the charts and she hasn’t even hunted yet.” I look at him like he’s crazy since I tried to bite Mark but he winks at me as he mentally says, We’ll keep that to ourselves. I just nod and his ice blue eyes shine brightly as he adds, “But what she demonstrated tonight is the reason why we’re here. We did have a few questions so that is why we came to see you.”
“Yes and good thing you did,” Vincent responds as he beams at me.
I want an explanation to my abilities as well but I can’t get pass how we found him. If we didn’t come to see him, I wonder if Vincent would have died. Can vampires bleed to death like humans? There are many questions filling my brain and these are answers I want and soon. Curious as to how this happened, I softly ask, “Vincent, who did that to you? Who attacked you?”
A grim look appears on his face as he sits back down on the couch. He remains silent for a few moments until finally he answers, “It was Carla.”
Hearing her name stuns us and I feel my anger boiling to a dangerous level. Carla is his bodyguard. Why would she viciously attack Vincent and leave him for dead? It didn’t make any sense. “Aren’t bodyguards supposed to protect their makers? Why would she do something like this,” I ask incredulously as I try to put the pieces together.
“I don’t know Gina and now she has chosen to break her oath and side with Ursela to avoid her wrath,” Vincent replies with dread in his voice.
I still didn’t understand so I ask, “Why would she do that?”
“Because dear Gina, Ursela is coming for you and Sam. She no longer wants to remain quiet in the shadows while the humans go about their daily lives. Ursela is ready to rise up against them but she sees you Gina as a threat. She is willing to do what it takes to get to you and any vampire that is not on her side is considered a trader and she will either enslave them with her venom or destroy them.”
I take this all in and for the first time I realize how serious the situation has become. Not only is she going to kill humans but Ursela will also target any vampire that wouldn’t help her find me and Sam. I can’t let that happen.
Sam says, “Well we’ve come up with a plan so she doesn’t come here. We’re going to tell everyone that we’re moving so we can lead her somewhere else far away from here and then we’ll face her together.”
“Right that should work perfectly,” Joseph says.
“Damn right and we’ll be right there with you guys. You’re not going to hog all the fun just for yourselves,” Evan says with enthusiasm.
I almost start to feel a little better but Vincent cuts our growing excitement by saying, “It won’t work. Carla I’m sure has told her about your loved ones Gina and Ursela will use them to ensnare you both back.”
And that is that. There is no way to escape her or lure her away from here so my mom and friends won’t get caught in the middle. We will have no choice but to face and fight her here.
I let out a long deep sigh while I ask, “So how do I defeat her? You all told me before that she is very powerful so how can I stop her?”
Vincent taps his head while replying, “Your mind is your weapon Gina.”
“My mind? I’m sorry but I don’t understand.”
He gives me a slight smile and says, “We’ve all seen what you can do Gina. A vampire that has telekinetic powers is the only one that can unlock the secret that will destroy Ursela.”
“But how,” Sam asks.
“The secret is locked within Ursela’s own mind. Gina will have to search and she will eventually find it.”
Now I begin to panic. There is no way I will be able to do this because of one tiny little problem. “Vincent, won’t she feel me inside her head while I’m trying to do that? When I poked around in Evan’s and Joseph’s, they felt me easily.”
“Yes she will unless you master searching one’s mind without them knowing. That’ll be the only way you will succeed.”
Sam jumps up off the couch and he begins pacing while he says, “That is too dangerous. I got lucky when I went inside her head but what if Ursela suspects what Gina is doing? I do not want that much of a risk for my wife!”
His eyes begin to blaze green and I know his emotions will get the best of him and the venom will start to take hold of him if he doesn’t relax. I go to stand next to him and I say soothingly, “Like Vincent said I will just have to practice.”
He looks at me solemnly and responds, “I just don’t want anything to happen to you. I don’t want to lose you love.”
“And you won’t. I’ll practice twenty four hours a day if I have to but I will find out how to kill her and you will be free.”
I give him a light kiss and I see that his eyes are returning to their beautiful gold color as I feel his mood relaxing. When I look directly into them, he has a perplexed look on his face. I scrounge up my face as I ask, “What’s wrong? You’re looking at me strangely.”
“It’s your eyes. I guess I didn’t notice before but they’re starting to lighten up.”
I smile as I say, “Well that’s great. Are they turning gold or blue?”
He pauses as I feel his anger building up again as he finally replies evenly, “Neither. They’re turning green.”
Charlie is immediately at my side and as he studies my eyes he asks, “Vincent, how is this possible?”
“Well because all her venom is Ursela’s. I figured her eyes would be green,” Vincent replies nonchalantly.
Charlie considers his words and slowly nods his head as he murmurs, “Of course. She never had normal venom so it’s only natural that they would turn this color.”
With dread on his face Sam asks, “What does that mean? Is she going to be just like Ursela?”
Vincent calmly says, “I don’t think so but we won’t know for sure until we see Gina develop more into her powers.”
Now I’m really worried. My eyes are turning green and with her venom, I could turn out just like Ursela. Even worse, what if I begin killing people the way Sam does when the venom overpowers him? Ugh, why can’t being a vampire just be simple for me? I grit my teeth and ball up my fists as I mutter, “I won’t turn out like her. I will fight as hard as I can to not let the venom take control of me.”
“Good and I believe you can do it Gina,” Vincent says proudly.
I smile from his faith in me but concern hits me about Carla. I look at him with worry as I ask, “So what are you going to do now that Carla has betrayed you?”
“I will have to consult with the other Elders and warn them of the situation and for them to be cautious of their bodyguards as well.”
“That would be wise Vincent,” Charlie says. “We’ll work with Gina on learning how to unlock things from people’s minds without them detecting what she’s doing.”
“Good. David should be a major help since he’s dealt with a vampire like her before. Am I right David?”
David seems a little uncomfortable when all our eyes land on him but he reluctantly responds, “Yes. I’ll help her out no problem.”
“Excellent,” Vincent says as he gets up from the couch. He looks exhausted and he needs to sleep so we take the hint that it is time for us to leave. Before we start to head for the exit Vincent says, “Gina, you’re very important to all of us so your safety is priority. This coven has to protect you at all costs.”
I look at all the faces of my vampire family and I cringe at the thought of anything happening to them because they’re trying to defend me. I’m not human anymore. I’m a vampire now and I can take care of myself. I cast my gaze down to the floor of the cave as I murmur, “Vincent, no I can’t ask them to do that. If any one of them got hurt because of me, I would never be able to forgive myself.”
“Now you’re going to sell us short like that,” Evan asks with a cocky grin. “You know we’ll protect you no matter what.”
“It’s not like we haven’t done it before. Watching over you is like a full time job kiddo,” David says while he and Evan laugh.
Ignoring their jab at me, I shake my head as I say, “I don’t want anything to happen to you guys.”
Harry walks over to me and firmly he says, “If you think we’re going to let you face this on your own then you are sadly mistaken Gina. Like Vincent said, you are part of this coven and it is our responsibility to protect one another. So watch our backs and we’ll watch yours.”
And there you have it. Harry had said his piece and the others are nodding in agreement. Staring at each of their faces, I know no matter how much I fight against it, they are going to help me no matter what. I can’t help but smile at their bravery and I whisper, “Okay.”
Vincent is instantly by my side and he says, “You are very lucky to have such a special coven Gina. I am now more confident that you will succeed.”
“Thank you Vincent.”
We say our final goodbyes and exit the cave. After we cross the bridge back into New York, Charlie heads towards his car as he says, “I have some business to attend to. I’ll meet you back at the house later.”
“And where are you off to,” Sam asks but I feel his anger rolling off him.
Charlie sighs while replying, “You don’t need to know everything I do Sam. Go home and have some quiet time with your wife.”
Sam doesn’t push any further and Charlie speeds off.
The others start to head for their vehicles and I gently take Sam’s hand and say, “Come on baby, you know that was Charlie’s subtle way of saying he won’t be alone tonight. Why don’t you ride back with me? You can see the neat little tricks I can do.”
I feel him relaxing as he responds, “Alright love. Although I enjoy watching you, I’ll ride back with you.”
I smile as I wrap my arms around his neck and I feel his arms go around my waist. Just as he leans in to kiss me, I maneuver my head so he gets my cheek and I giggle as I murmur, “That conversation we’ll have once we get home.”
“Then what are we waiting for?”
So I Fall in Love
& the Car Suffers
(Charlie)
“Oh yes! Oh my god Charlie! Yes…yes!”
I feel myself coming closer as well as Tiffany muffles her cries of pleasure into her pillow. My fangs are slowly growing and I need to flip her over onto her back so I can get to her neck easily. I slow up my stroke as I breathe into her ear, “Roll over sweetheart so I can look at your face.”
She obeys and once she does, I pick up the pace again and dive as deep as I can into her. When I feel her body arch as she’s about to climax, I gently bite her neck and she moans in response as her body shakes from her orgasm.
Yep another orgasm courtesy of Charles St. James. I wouldn’t expect anything less.
As we lay in bed to recuperate, Tiffany lightly moans while nestling closer to me and I ask, “Something on your mind?”
“Aside from total bliss not really,” she responds while smiling.
“I know exactly what you mean.”
She sits up and softly says, “I hate to break the mood but there is something I need to know. And if I don’t ask, I’ll kick myself for not finding the courage to ask you.”
I’m a bit nervous and tempted to look in her mind but I give her the respect of not peeking. I sit up until I’m leaning against her headboard and I open my arms as she scoots closer to me. “Tell me, what’s on your mind,” I ask while making sure my tone is calm.
Tiffany takes a deep breath as she responds, “Well when we first hooked up, we had originally agreed it was only going to be a one-time thing. Yet here we are after many nights and I was just curious of where do you see this going?”
Ah, we’ve finally come to the difficult part. I have given our relationship (if you can call it that) some thought and even though I spoke briefly to my brother about it, for the first time I am sure of my feelings for her. I know I care for Tiffany and I want her all to myself. In fact, the very thought of another man touching her is getting me upset but I calm myself quickly. I peer into her eyes and I stroke the side of her face as I reply, “Well I know what I want and that’s you. And I don’t mean on just a physical level either. All this time we’ve spent together has been amazing and I want to spend as much time with you as I can. I want to be with you Tiffany in every way you want me to.” She stares at me stunned and I can’t help myself as I let out a laugh. “Did I say something shocking?”
Tiffany shakes her head, as she says, “No In fact it was just about what I wanted to hear.”
“I’m glad. I never felt this way about anyone before.” She looks deep into my eyes as I say, “I really care about you Tiffany. In fact, I love you.”
Boy that was tough to say but at least this time I truly mean it. Yeah, I know it was wrong when I used to just blurt it out in the past but some of those women would not shut up unless I claimed I loved them. That used to be enough to pacify them and then I would screw their brains out. I told them what they wanted to hear and I got my rocks off. Pretty fair trade right?
But being here with Tiffany now gives me a whole different feeling that is scaring the crap out of me. I find myself always thinking about her and when I wasn’t with her, I’ll make up any excuse I could so I can see her. And when we get together, no words can describe the feeling I get throughout my entire body. I mean this woman is affecting me on levels I can’t even begin to comprehend. Now I understand when Sam became obsessed with Gina and how his feelings overwhelmed him.
I’m expecting her to laugh her head off but instead she looks at me sincerely as she asks, “That was really hard for you to say huh?”
“No not really.” She eyes me suspiciously and I laugh as I say, “Okay maybe a little but not for the reason you think.”
“Then what is it?”
I pull her a little closer to me as I reply, “I guess this is new to me. I’ve been with a lot of women but none of them have ever made me feel the way you do.”
She scrounges up her face as she asks, “How many women have you been with?” She then holds up her hands while shaking her head as she says, “Nope forget it. I don’t think I want to know how many.”
“No I wouldn’t tell you. They’re my past and I want to keep you separate from them. But you have become very special to me and the feelings that I have for you I cannot hide anymore.”
She smiles as she leans up to give me a kiss. Tiffany then says, “Charlie, I feel the same way about you too. I just never imagined that I would be the one you fall in love with.”
“Why not,” I ask while hiding my anger. Why would she even think that no one would fall in love with her? “Tiffany you are an amazing, smart, beautiful woman. With so many astounding qualities, it was only a matter of time before you had me under your spell.”
“Oh that’s what it is huh,” she asks with a giggle.
“Absolutely.”
I pull her in for a kiss and as we about to start another hot and heavy love making session, she pulls away and while panting she says, “Wait. I need to take a breather. I still need to recuperate from earlier.”
I laugh as I say, “Yes you’re right. Forgive me. You drive me wild and I can’t help myself.”
“Okay I’ll work on not being so sexy.”
“Oh you can’t help that. In fact, I’m only giving you a few more minutes and then I’m fucking you again.”
“Hmmm, since you put it that way, I guess you’re not going to give me much of a choice.” She lets out a giggle before resting her head on my chest. We lay in silence for a moment until Tiffany softly says, “Well I guess I can tell Gina now. I hated keeping this from her and I know she’ll be happy for me. She might be shocked at first but overall I think she’ll be cool about it.”
I silently cringe as I remember the visions I had of Gina’s reactions. No matter how I told her, Gina’s rejoinder is always the same. Not good. I wonder if Sam has told her as of yet but I’m guessing no because I definitely would have gotten a phone call by now. Either way I’m going to have to face the music and whatever the consequences are I’ll deal with it. Tiffany has become too important to me and I will not give her up.
“Why don’t you let me tell her?”
Tiffany appears confused as she asks, “Why?”
“Well, considering my past dating style, I want to explain to her our situation so she doesn’t think that you’re just another score to me.”
She contemplates it for a second and responds, “Okay. Maybe you’re right because you would have to explain a lot to her.”
I laugh as I respond, “I just hope she understands how I truly feel about you and that she sees I am a one woman man now.”
“And if she doesn’t believe you then I’ll definitely vouch for you,” she says while I feel her hands sliding down underneath the sheets. When she finds what she’s looking for, I softly growl as I feel myself getting aroused and I murmur, “You know if you keep doing that, break time is definitely over.”
“Why do you think I’m doing that,” she responds while she begins to kiss my neck. She maneuvers her body to where she’s almost on top of me and I gently grab her hips so I can place her right on top while I slide in her. When I hear her moan, I smile as we begin round two.
