Bite, page 38
She smiles back and responds, “Yes thanks. Although a few drinks would totally hit the spot, I think all I want to do is go home and hop into a nice warm bath.”
Hmm what I wouldn’t give to join her in a steaming bath scented with jasmine. I can picture the bubbles covering her entire body and me playfully popping each and every one to reveal her gorgeous skin where I would run my tongue…
Wait what the fuck am I thinking? This is Gina’s friend so I can’t think of her that way. I clear my head as I push the car forward while we sit in silence. Reading her mind, I see that she is at odds about what to make of me. I smile when I see a thought that she doesn’t really like me that much so to find out why I ask, “So I heard you don’t like me much. Have I done something to offend you?”
That completely catches her off guard and her mind is scrambling in trying to find something to say. She also wonders how I knew she felt that way. I have to really fight to keep from bursting out with laughter as she answers, “I don’t know what you are talking about.”
Hmm she’s going to be coy with me huh? I decide to play with her on this. I just hope my future sister-in-law will forgive me for this later. “Oh so Gina was incorrect when she said you weren’t very fond of me?”
Shit Gina has a big mouth she says in her head and she begins to blush a bit and I feel something inside me stirring which is strange since I don’t get the thirst for blood like the others. I pride myself with being able to control myself when the scent hits me. I purely drink human blood only for sexual purposes but Tiffany’s blood is getting to me. It feels like I haven’t been laid for decades and she is the first woman that crosses my path. I even begin imaging what her body would feel like against mine and hearing her purr my name at just the right moment. The car slightly swerves a bit and I take a deep breath as I tell myself to get a grip.
After a few moments, she finally responds, “Well it is just the things I heard about you were not very good.”
“Like what,” I ask. I’m always curious about the latest gossip that’s being said about me. She hesitates so I gently press, “Is it that terrible?”
“Well I guess it depends on how you look at it. Is treating women like objects considered terrible?”
Ah, so that what’s bothering her? To an outsider it can appear that I treat women as nothing but sex toys and that can give the impression that I’m a dog but how do I explain to Tiffany drinking blood during sex can be the biggest rush of a vampire’s life? It’s how a junkie feels when they take a hit and they get that ultimate high. Just the thought alone has my hormonal energy buzzing and I have to do something to erase the sexual tension that is building up inside me. I need to get a grip and focus since I still have to see Vincent later because right now Tiffany is making me horny.
I pull up to her house and I say to her, “If I can be honest with you, I swear I don’t treat women that way at all. I’m just not ready to settle down with anyone serious yet so I date a lot of women. But I treat every one of them with nothing but respect.”
She stares at me intently and says, “But that’s not fair to all the women you go out with. How about this; why don’t you try dating one woman at a time for a while? You know like go on more than one date with her. You never know you might actually find one you like.”
I smile as I reply, “Sorry to say but most of the women bore me. Not one of them has done anything to stimulate my mind. But I’m grateful that they stimulate something else.” Tiffany lets out a huff as I laugh. “Okay I’m sorry. I’m only teasing.”
She quickly gets out the car and I follow her so I can make sure she gets inside safely. When she reaches the door, she turns and sees that I’m only a few inches away from her. I didn’t even hear him; damn he is sneaky she says in her head and I smile as I stare into her eyes deeply and say, “Well, I guess you’re in for the night huh?”
“Yep. Why, are you looking for me to invite you in just because you rescued me from the date from hell?”
I contemplate that for a moment. The horny side is screaming at me to use my influence on her so she could invite me in and I could ravish her like she’s never been laid before. I picture the two of us in her bed and the moment when I’m ready to explode my fangs gently punctures her skin and her blood sends me into euphoria. I have to take a deep breath to control my hormones and I say, “No. I just wanted to make sure you got home safely.”
She wasn’t expecting that to be my response but she plays it cool as she says, “Oh okay.”
I smile while I whisper, “You have a pleasant evening Tiffany.”
“You too Charlie. And thanks again.”
“Anytime,” I murmur and watch her bite her lip, which sends a strain in my pants, and I internally groan. I widen my smile and I turn to head towards my car. As soon as I get inside, I take a few deep breaths while I tell my dick to take a chill pill because it’s not dipping into Tiffany anytime soon. I need to hurry and get to Vincent so I can get my mind off of sex. Well, at least for now.
I race off and about forty-five minutes later, I arrive at the GWB (George Washington Bridge for you non-New Yorkers). I turn off onto the exit ramp and maneuver the car so I can park it underneath the bridge and then I hop out and wait. I’m within the limit where we are supposed to stop and wait for her to arrive. I wait for a few moments and sure enough I feel myself growing tense. I search the area and when she doesn’t emerge, in a frustrated tone I shout, “Cut the crap Carla! I’m in no mood to play games with you right now!”
“Oh what’s the matter Charlie; you don’t love me anymore?”
I look in the direction the voice comes from and I see she’s standing up on a branch grinning down at me. Her beauty immediately strikes me and I have to catch myself before I gasp. With her flaming red hair set against her gold eyes, she looks like a porcelain doll. Her lips are pink and curved into a vicious smile. She’s in her typical dress of a black long skirt and blouse but no shoes. When she jumps down from the tree to approach me, her skin appears to have a haunting glow. I feel sorry for any human male that would dare try to talk to her because if she opens her mouth, it would be just to latch it onto their necks.
I scowl as she comes closer but hold my stance so she can see that I mean business. “So, I assume this isn’t a social call so what can I do for you,” she asks in her heavy Russian accent when she stands close to me.
“My brother and I need to see Vincent tomorrow if possible. May I have a word with him so I can explain our situation,” I respond while staying on guard.
Carla is his bodyguard and tough as hell. She takes most sudden movements as a threat so I don’t want to give her any reason to try to pounce on me. She eyes me suspiciously and says, “Vincent is resting so he is unavailable at the moment. But I assure you I will honor your request. What is the reason?”
“We have a human that we would like permission to turn.”
“A willing human wants to become a vampire? Why?”
“That’s none of your business Carla but I will explain everything to him when I see him.”
Hating that I won’t spill everything, she says, “I don’t know. Vincent is very busy these days and the timing couldn’t be worse.”
“Bullshit,” I yell while getting irritated. “Time is a factor here so make it happen!”
“Is the human dying?”
“No but a certain vampire will be if she doesn’t cut this shit out,” I growl back.
I didn’t mean to lose my cool with her but she is pissing me off. She growls back and positions herself as if she’s ready to attack. I remain standing and smirk when she remembers my shield and stands back upright. “I would watch your tone if you want me to take you to Vincent,” she hisses at me.
Damn I have to be nice or we will be screwed. “My apologies Carla. Forgive me for losing my temper.”
She smiles and turns to jump back up into the tree. Before she begins to cross the bridge, she says, “Be back here tomorrow at midnight and I’ll bring you all over.”
“Thank you. Oh one more thing. This human is very special to my brother and if he detects one threat towards her, well let’s just say he will not be happy and I won’t be able to control his reaction.”
She just gives me a final grin and then disappears into the night. I get back into my car and head for home.
I Should Have Done My Paper At Home
(Gina)
Morning comes way too fast and I grunt when Sam is trying to wake me up. I was having a pleasant dream and I don’t want to wake up just yet. I roll over and pull the covers over my head as I mutter, “Ten more minutes.”
I hear him chuckle as he says, “You don’t have ten minutes love. Time to get up; you have class today remember?”
And that makes me shoot up so hard that I nearly knock into Sam. I suddenly remember that I have an assignment due and with everything going on; I just let it slip out of my mind. I start scrambling around the room trying to pull myself together and I guess I appear comical because Sam’s laughter stops me in my tracks. “What is so funny,” I ask with irritation.
“You’re running around like a mad woman in nothing but your panties. It is quite amusing and sexy at the same time.”
I look down and see that I am indeed damn near in my birthday suit. I immediately blush and whisper, “Well I remembered I had a homework assignment due today and I forgot all about it and now I’m going to have to get to the campus early so I can use the computer lab so I can throw something together.”
He gets up out the bed and walks over to his desk where he grabs a couple sheets of paper. As he hands them to me, he asks, “You mean the outline you were supposed to do for you short story?”
I look at the papers and see that my assignment is done. I groan as I ask, “You did it for me?”
“Not really. The ideas were all up in your head already. I just picked out my favorite and laid it out for you. The good thing about outlines is as you write the actual paper; things can be changed a bit. But everything here was your idea.” I give him a look that lets him know how grateful I am and he kisses me and he says, “You’re very welcome love.”
I smile while staring at him but then I remember I’m still practically naked and I grab his shirt off the floor to use as a cover. This sends him into hysterics as he says, “Are you kidding me? I’ve seen all of you remember.”
“I know but it’s always been dark so it’s hard to really see anything.”
He shakes his head and says, “Not for a vampire. Our vision is perfect in the dark so it’s like the light is still on. I’ve seen your body perfectly and thinking about it right now is getting me a bit excited. I think we’re going to cut it close as far as getting you to class on time.”
“Oh really,” I say while giving him a sly grin. He leans in to kiss me and just as our lips meet, there’s a quick knock on the bedroom door and it begins to open. Sam jumps in front of me while I use his shirt to try to cover up. Charlie enters and smirks when he sees us.
“Damn it Charlie couldn’t you wait until someone said it was okay to come in,” Sam snaps with a slight growl.
“My apologies. I know she has class today so I thought she was dressed already.”
“Well she’s not so give us a minute and we’ll be right out.”
“Yes sir.” And he quietly goes back out the room.
Sam turns to face me and I know my face must have be bright red because he says, “I’m sorry about that.”
I quickly nod my head and say, “It’s okay. Do you think he saw anything?”
“No. He may be a jerk at times but Charlie is a gentleman and he has enough respect for me not to look.”
“Oh cool.” I look down still feeling embarrassed but I feel his hand gently raise my face so he can look me in the eyes. “Hey, they all think you’re a knockout. I’m not happy to hear those thoughts but they know how gorgeous you are.”
My blush deepens but I mutter, “Thanks.”
He smiles and this time he kisses me so passionately that I feel myself growing with excitement to get tangled up with him under the covers. I say breathlessly to him, “Oh so what I’m a few minutes late for class?”
He sweeps me up into his arms and we head back to the bed.
Okay so maybe making love to Sam this morning wasn’t such a great idea. I’m rushing to get ready and Charlie wants to speak to us before I have to head off to class. As I’m getting ready to run downstairs, the doorbell rings and moments later, I hear Tiffany and Amber’s voice. I hurry down the stairs just as all the introductions are done. Charlie asks, “So Tiffany how was the rest of your evening?”
“It was fine. Thanks again for getting me out of that date.”
“No problem,” he says while grinning.
I have no idea what they are talking about so I make a mental note to ask her about it later. “Hey Amber. Hey bitch. What are you doing here,” I ask cheerfully.
“Hey bitch, I thought Sam wouldn’t mind me giving you a ride to school,” Tiffany replies. She then faces him and asks, “Will you be able to handle being away from her for a while?”
He laughs as he responds, “Yes I think I’ll be okay.”
She and Amber giggle while I grab my backpack and I say, “Well I just need to speak to Charlie for a quick moment and then we can go.”
“Cool,” Amber says.
Just as I’m about to head into the kitchen, Tiffany yells out, “What the hell is that?”
I look around and say, “What?”
“That thing on your finger. Is that what I think it is?”
I glance at my left hand and I forgot that I haven’t told anyone about my engagement. I catch Amber glancing also and I silently groan knowing I’m about to hear it from her too. I focus my gaze back on Tiffany who has this stunned expression on her face as she asks, “Gina, you’re engaged?”
“Yes,” I reply with a sigh.
Amber’s eyes grow wide and she exclaims, “Shut up!”
We both giggle as Tiffany asks, “Why didn’t you tell us?”
“Well Diane is still in Hawaii and I was waiting for her to return so I could tell all three of you at the same time. Plus, it just happened so I’m still trying to wrap my head around it myself.”
“Did you tell your mom? What did Sara say?”
I grimace and I hear a snicker from afar so I assume it came from Harry. I’m sure he wishes he could be there when I tell Sara that I’m getting married. Oh yeah that’s going to go well. I cast my gaze down to the floor while mumbling, “I haven’t told her yet.”
“Well I’m sure she’ll be okay about it,” Tiffany says reassuringly as she and Amber hug me and the squeals begin. Once they calm down, she says, “So I assume I’m the maid of honor so we have a lot of work to do. So are we looking at a spring wedding next year or…?”
“Actually it’s gonna be at the end of August,” I cut in.
“Well that’ll work. That gives us a little over a year to put together the perfect wedding.”
I sigh as I say, “August of this year.”
“What!” Tiffany’s voice gets louder as she says, “Gina you’ve got to be kidding me. There is no way we can plan everything in like less than three months. Why the rush?”
Amber eyes me suspiciously as she asks, “Oh my God are you pregnant?”
The guys now let out their laughter as I blush and stammer, “W-what? No-no I’m not pr-pregnant!”
“Are you sure? I mean a shotgun wedding will be a little hectic but there’s no shame in it.”
“I’m not pregnant,” I yell as David and Charlie double over in laughter.
“Sorry sweetie but that was all I could think of why you would want the wedding so soon.”
Tiffany lightly punches her and then asks, “Then why can’t we wait?”
I shrug. “Why wait? He’s the one I love so why go through a pointless long engagement when I’m ready to be his wife right now?”
I feel Sam put his arm around my waist as Amber says, “I can respect that.”
Then she and Tiffany start rambling on about dresses and a cake and other wedding details. So much for a quite engagement. They go on and on and I am sensing that things are going to get out of hand and I’ll have to step in before they turn it into a three-ring circus. “Okay, we are keeping this small and simple. No church since Sam is not affiliated with any of them and I swear to God Tiffany, do not invite the whole damn town!”
She starts to protest and I feel a migraine coming on. Sam cut in on the girls’ chatter by saying, “We’ll have the wedding here. Our backyard is big enough to host a reception and with my brother’s connections, we’ll have everything done by the big day.”
When Charlie hears his name added to the conversation, he strolls over and says, “In fact, by this afternoon I’ll have us a dance floor to put on the grass, tables and chairs and a gazebo that will act as the alter.”
Tiffany stares at him while murmuring, “You can really do all that?”
“Of course. My baby brother is getting married and I want to help make both his and Gina’s day extra special. So whatever you need don’t hesitate to ask.”
That makes her smile and the two of them go on and on about all the details and I’m glad that I won’t have to do a thing. Just tell me what time to show up and I’ll be there. I’m ready to go and get away from all the wedding talk. Sam feels my anxiety and whispers, “Are you alright?”
I give him my pouty face as I quietly whine, “Can’t we just go to Vegas and let Elvis marry us? If we leave it all to Tiffany, things will totally get out of hand.”
